Vermont Pushes Past Men's Lacrosse, 15-6

BURLINGTON, Vt. – A strong defensive effort led Vermont past the Hartford men's lacrosse team, 15-6, on Saturday afternoon at Virtue Field. Senior Alex Borja and junior Owen Trepeta each had a pair of goals to lead the Hawks (1-8), who fall to 1-1 in America East action. Vermont (5-3) improves to 2-0 in conference play.

Vermont broke open a scoreless start by scoring four goals over the remaining 6:24 of the opening quarter. The Catamounts continued to keep the offense rolling, as they tacked on five scores in the second quarter to take a 9-0 lead into the halftime break. Six different Vermont players scored in the half, led by French, who had three goals.
 
The Catamounts extended the lead to 12-0 until senior midfielder Alex Borja ended Hartford's scoring drought 34 seconds into the fourth quarter. The Hawks picked up the pace in the final stanza, ending the game on a 5-1 run that included scores 19 seconds apart from Borja and junior Ty Thompson and a pair of tallies from Trepeta.

  • Senior Dylan Jinks dished out three assists to lead the Hawks with three points.
