Alex Borja netted his first career hat trick on Tuesday, but Hartford men's lacrosse came up short at Manhattan in an 11-8 decision. The Hawks fall to 0-5, while the Jaspers improve to 4-2.

Borja's second goal of the first quarter put Hartford in front, 4-3, with 2:10 remaining, but Manhattan, which struck twice inside the final four seconds of the stanza, scored again in the second stanza to take a 6-4 lead with 12:59 to go. The Hawks answered, though, as senior
Dylan Jinks closed out the scoring in the half with back-to-back scores to draw the teams even at halftime (6-6).
A three-goal run by the Jaspers to open the second half provided Manhattan with its largest lead — a 9-6 advantage — with 9:16 to go. Junior
Owen Trepeta pulled Hartford within two midway through the third, but the Jaspers scored two of the final three goals of the game to come away with the win.
INSIDE THE BOX & NOTES
- Hartford, which went perfect in 19 clear attempts, had 10 players combine for 11 caused turnovers, including two that were caused by freshman Zak Lanoue.
- Jinks finished with a pair of goals while senior Ryan Lovell, who led the way with eight ground balls, added a goal and an assist for two points.
- Sophomore Christian Paley netted his first career goal in the defeat.
- The Hawks held a 45-35 advantage in shots, but each team finished even with 24 shots on goal apiece.
- Brendan Krebs made 16 saves between the pipes for Manhattan in the win.
- Trevor Pelletier paced the Jaspers' offense with four points, including three goals.
