Baseball Drop Finals Game of Series to Bulldogs

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Hartford baseball dropped the final game of the weekend series to Bryant, 15-6, in non-conference action Sunday afternoon.
 
Sophomore Drew DeMartino went 1-4 with a run scored and a RBI, as the Hawks fall to 12-19 overall. Jimmy Titus and Vincenzo Castronovo each hit home runs and combined for four RBI, as the Bulldogs improve to 24-11 on the year.

Hartford got the scoring started early, plating two runs in the first inning. With junior Zachary Ardito on first and sophomore John Thrasher on third, the Hawks found their first run of the game, performing a double steal with Thrasher coming across for the 1-0 lead.
 
DeMartino then brought Ardito into score from second, hitting a single through the right side, for the 2-0 lead.
 
After the Bulldogs scored one run in the bottom of the first, Hartford pushed its lead back to two in the top of the second. Freshman Devin Kellogg led off the inning with a single and then moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by senior Drew Holtgrieve. After the second out of the inning, Kellogg came around to score, as Thrasher reached on an error by the shortstop, making the score 3-1.
 
Bryant's bats however came alive in the fourth inning, scoring seven runs on its way to its ninth win in its last 10 games, 15-6.

Hartford hosts Rhode Island Wednesday, in the first of three games the Hawks will play at Dunkin' Donuts Park this season. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
