MILFORD, Conn. – Competing in its final tune-ups before the Big Sky Conference Championship, the Hartford men's golf team posted an eighth-place finish at the Yale Spring Invitational, before taking sixth at the Sacred heart Spring Invitational this past weekend.
YALE SPRING INVITATIONAL: RESULTS
- Sophomore Matthew Schwab, who carded an even-par 70 in the opening round, fired a 72 in the second round to finish with a 142, good for 14th place
- Classmate Eric Evans, who fired back-to-back 1-over 71s, also finished in a tie for 14th
- Senior Sam McNulty (t-40th) shaved one stroke off of his first-round score of 5-over 75 to place 40th overall with a 149, while junior Elias Gross (t-44th) rounded out Hartford's scorers with a 10-over 150 (76-74)
- Yale, which landed three of the tournament's top-10 finishers, won the event, while Siena's Jack Brown took medalist honors after finishing six strokes under par
SACRED HEART INVITATIONAL: RESULTS
- Entering Monday's final round in a tie for third, Frodigh, who competed as an individual, posted his first career top-five finish after tying for fifth with a 4-over 148
- Frodigh carded the Hawks' longest single-round score after firing a 1-under 71 in the opening round on Sunday
- Recording identical rounds of 2-over 74, Schwab also tied for fifth place to lead Hartford's scorers
- Evans also posted a top-10 finish — his second of the season — after tying for ninth (151) while junior Elias Gross took 20th overall (156)
- Rounding out the Hawks' scorers was sophomore Ryan Tomaso, who took 21st (156)
- Iona college won the team title while Sacred Heart's Nathan Kim was the top finisher with a 5-under 139
NEXT UP:
The Hawks head to Boulder Creek, Nev., for the Big Sky Championship. The three-day event, which determines the conference's individual and team automatic bids to the NCAA Tournament, begins on Friday, April 26, at Boulder Creek Golf Club.
