WEST HARTFORD, CONN.- The Hartford men's golf team hosted the Hartford Wamponoag Invitational on Monday. The Hawks would come in first out of nine teams in a single round of action.
Rapid Recap:
- Freshman Manolo Vargas (Medellin, Colombia) led the Hawks finishing in third overall shooting a 72 (E).
- Freshman Shawn Amari (Townsend, Mass.) and freshman Griffin La Londe (Montclair, N.J.) finished tied for fourth coming in with a 73 (+1).
- Freshman Tim Kaley (Dalton, Mass.) came in sixth at a 74 (+2) on the day to round out the scorers.
- Justing missing the scoring four was freshman Zack MacMillan (Toronto, Ontario) who finished with a 75 (+3). Sophomore Ethan Archibald (Heath, Texas followed at +5.
- Junior Jake Miller (Townsend, Mass.) and senior Joey Acla (Clarks Summit, Pa.) both competed as independents finishing with a +10 and a +19.
Inside the Numbers:
- The Hawks would finish with three eagles and 13 birdies on the day.
- Hartford would be a combined 4 over par winning the event by 20 strokes over Salem State University (+24).
