VESTAL, N.Y. – The Hartford men's lacrosse team was unable to hold on to a halftime lead, as the Hawks dropped a 15-13 decision at Binghamton on Saturday afternoon. The Hawks fall to 2-3 in America East action, while the Bearcats move to 1-4 in the league.
With one game remaining in the regular-season, the Hawks continue to fight for one of four spots in the America East Championship. Hartford can secure a postseason berth with a home win against UMBC, or a UMass Lowell loss to Binghamton, next weekend.
Sophomore
Owen Trepeta scored a career-best four times to pace the Hawks, while senior
Dylan Jinks added three goals, including his 100th career goal.
BINGHAMTON 15, HARTFORD 13
Binghamton struck first, but Hartford strung together consecutive goals in a run that was capped by Jinks' 100th career strike to take a 3-1 lead with 3:57 to go in the opening quarter. Another three goal run featuring strikes from Jinks, Trepeta and Borja put Hartford in front, 6-2, before Jackson Rieger ended an 11-plus minute scoring drought for the Bearcats while closing the gap to 6-3 at the break.
The Bearcats came out firing in the second half, outscoring the Hawks, 10-3, over the first 23 minutes to take a 13-9 advantage with 6:55 remaining in the game. Hartford managed to pull within one at 13-12 using another 3-0 run capped by Borja with 2:52 left, but Binghamton pulled away by scoring the final two goals of the contest.

- Junior Ty Thompson (2 goals), Borja (2) and sophomore Carter O'Connell rounded out Hartford's scoring
- Joe Licata led Binghamton with a game-high five goals, adding three assists for eight points
- The Bearcats held the edge in facoeffs (17-of-31) and shots (59-43)
