Gross, Schwab Pace Men's Golf to Third Place at Big Sky Championships

BOULDER CREEK, Nev. – Receiving significant contributions from junior Elias Gross and sophomore Matthew Schwab — who each tied for sixth place — the Hartford men's golf team took third at the 2019 Big Sky Championships this past weekend.

TOURNAMENT HIGHLIGHTS
  • Placing three in the top-20, the Hawks combined for a team score of 858, finishing 10 strokes off of runner-up Weber State and 12 strokes off of tournament champion Northern Colorado
  • Hartford had an impressive opening round, carding a 288 (-6) to enter the second day in second place behind tournament leader Northern Colorado
  • Gross, who shot back-to-back rounds of 3-under 69 to open the tournament, entered the final day in a three-way tie for first place
  • Both Gross and Schwab shot par-or-better in every round as they each carded a 6-under 210 to tie for sixth
  • Sophomore Ryan Tomaso, who shot an even-par 72 in Sunday's last round, also posted a top-20 effort, tying for 19th with a 2-over 218
  • Sophomore Eric Evans rounded out the Hawks' scorers, tying for 21st with a 4-over 220
  • Southern Utah's Jake Vincent took home the individual title after carding a 9-under 207
