With Stony Brook holding a 5-0 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh inning, Hartford began its rally. Junior Zachary Ardito got the Hawks on the board first, doubling down the left field line, scoring sophomore John Thrasher.

Senior Ashton Bardzell then matched Ardito, hitting a double of his own to deep center field, plating both freshman Donnie Cohoon and Ardito, making the score 5-3. Juniors Nik Pagan and Jackson Olson then each hit RBI singles to finish off the seventh in with the score tied at five.

In the eighth inning, the Hawks would take the lead for the first time all afternoon as Sullivan hit a fly ball to left field that was deep enough for Cohoon to score from third and give Hartford the 6-5 lead.
