PROVIDENCE, R.I. — The Hartford women's soccer team put up a fight, but came up short at Brown in a 1-0 decision on Stevenson-Pincince Field on Thursday. The Hawks dip to 2-4-1, while the Bears remain unbeaten on the season at 4-0-1.
BROWN 1, HARTFORD 0
Brown held the edge on the offensive side of the pitch in the first half, but Hartford's defense held the Bears at bay. Junior goalkeeper
Maia Perez registered six of her nine saves on the evening during that stretch, as both teams were held scoreless at halftime.
Despite the Hawks applying more pressure on the offensive end in the second half, Brown broke through with what proved to be the game-winning tally in the 68th minute when Sheyenne Allen put the finishing touches on a cross by Ava Seelenfreund. Less than two minutes later, a corner kick by the Hawks nearly led to the equalizer, but junior
Alexis Doran's header was saved by Brown keeper Kayla Thompson.
