Forcing Hartford goalkeeper Maia Perez into action four times, Quinnipiac broke through in the 35th minute when Gretchen Kron found the back of the net on a header. Perez made saves on seven of the eight first-half shots she faced as the Hawks took a one-goal deficit into the break.

Despite the Hawks applying more pressure on the offensive end after halftime, the Bobcats doubled their lead on a score by Kylie Lance in the 60th minute. Down the stretch, Hartford had opportunities to cut into its deficit, but Quinnipiac goalkeeper Meaghan Phillips made two big saves on shots by freshman Ishani Sharma and sophomore Izzy Lachcik in the 66th and 81st minute.
