DELAND, Fla. – Behind a strong start from junior Nicholas Dombkowski, Hartford baseball defeated Stetson on the road, 6-3, to open the 2020 season with a win on Friday evening at Melching Field.
Domkowski tossed six innings of one-run ball, while striking out six, as the Hawks open the season at 1-0. Senior Zachary Ardito led the offense with two RBI and redshirt-junior Tyler Coppo added three hits and knocked in a run, as the Hatters fell to 4-1 on the year.

Robert Carmody broke the scoreless tie in the second with a sac-fly, followed by an RBI single from Coppo in the third to give the Hawks an early 2-0 lead. Holding a 2-1 lead in the sixth, Hartford was able to plate a run due to a Stetson error.
Leading 4-1 in the eighth, Ardito drilled a two-run single to left center to give the Hawks a commanding 6-3 lead. The Hatters were able to score two unearned runs in the eighth, but Will Nowak held the lead and earned his first save of the season in the win.
