Baseball Falls to Stetson on the Road, 3-2, in Series Finale

DELAND, Fla. – Freshman pitcher Ken Turner tossed six innings and gave up two runs while striking out two batters, asHartford baseball fell to Stetson on the road, 3-2, on Sunday evening at Melching Field.

Zachary Ardito and Drew DeMartino drove in a run apiece as the Hawks fell to 1-2 on the season, while the Hatters improved to 6-1 with the win.

Hartford struck first after DeMartino hit a sac-fly to left center to score John Thrasher from third, giving the Hawks a 1-0 lead in the opening frame. After Stetson responded with two runs in the third inning, Hartford tied the contest at 2-2 after Ardito hit a sacrifice fly to right to score Donnie Cohoon in the sixth.

The score stayed tied until the bottom of the ninth, where Stetson won the game on a walk-off single to secure the 3-2 win over Hartford.
