NORMAN, Okla. — The Hartford men's golf team was recognized by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) for its academic success, as the Hawks were one of 142 Division I programs to take home an Outstanding Team Academic Award from the organization.
In total, 250 teams across Division I, Division II, Division III, NAIA, NJCAA I and NJCAA II received All-Academic Team distinction after combining for a team GPA of 3.0 or above at the conclusion of the 2019-20 academic year.
Five student-athletes stood out in helping lead the Hawks to GCAA All-Academic Team recognition. Rising sophomore
Manuel Romero, rising junior
Jared Winiarz, rising seniors
Eric Evans and
Ryan Tomaso and recent graduate
Elias Gross earned Big Sky Conference All-Academic Team honors earlier last month, an award that requires a minimum 3.2 cumulative GPA.
Evans, Gross and Tomaso also took home additional hardware this month, as they were named Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars by the GCAA. That award recognizes individual excellence, both in the classroom and on the links.
