Carroll Signs Professional Contract in Spain

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. — Former Hartford men's basketball standout John Carroll recently signed a professional basketball contract with Club Baloncesto Zamora in Spain. CB Baloncesto Zamora is a member of the strong Spanish LEB Plata Basketball League.

A member of the Hawks from 2014-19, Carroll averaged 14.6 points and 5.3 rebounds over 121 appearances. He finished his career as one of the top scorers and rebounders in Hartford men's basketball history, ranking ninth in the program's Division I era in scoring with 1,335 points and fourth in rebounds with 644. Carroll was a two-time America East All-Conference selection, earning a spot on the Second Team in each of his final two seasons (2018, 2019).

Carroll — a 6-8 forward from Dublin, Ireland — also competed in the National Basketball League for NH Ostrava in the Czech Republic before playing with Marin PXG in Spain late last year.

"I am really excited to announce that I have signed with CB Zamora in the LEB Spanish Plata Basketball League for the upcoming season," Carroll said. "I'm happy to join a strong club and the Spanish style suits my game, so I'm also excited to return to the country."

Carroll earned an undergraduate degree in history before graduating with a Master of Business Administration degree in 2019. A three-time America East Honor Roll member during his career (3.0+ GPA), he received Commissioner's Honor Roll distinction from the league (3.5+ GPA) in 2016 and 2018.
