Austin Williams, a senior guard, has made an immediate impact in his second season with the Hartford men's basketball team. A transfer from Marist who sat out the 2019-20 campaign due to the NCAA's transfer rules, he is a key member of a starting backcourt that accounts for nearly 50-percent of the Hawks' scoring through 13 games in 2020-21.

Williams has been on a roll as of late. He has scored in double figures a team-best nine times — including each his past six games — and is averaging 16.2 points on 55-percent shooting from the field during that rally.

After drilling the game-winning three with half a second remaining in a 77-74 win against Binghamton earlier this month for a career-high 16 points, he upped his personal-best output to 29 points in Hartford's most recent win at UMass Lowell this past Sunday. To cap off that performance, the Roseland, N.J., native was featured on ESPN's Sports Center, as one of his two monstrous dunks against the River Hawks took the No. 6 spot on the Top 10 Countdown.

Williams enters this weekend's series at UMBC as Hartford's scoring leader with 12.1 points per game. He adds 4.9 rebounds in 29.8 minutes per game.
