Hawk Talk with Women's Basketball's Jada Lucas

Jada Lucas, a senior guard, has been the Hartford women's basketball team's go-to scorer in her fourth season in West Hartford, leading the Hawks with 9.8 points per game. After not earning much playing time as a freshman and sophomore, Lucas had a breakout junior campaign under coach Morgan Valley.

Last season Lucas started in all 29 games, averaging career-best numbers with 12.9 points, 3.6 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 35.0 minutes per game. She led the team with 373 points, extending the program's streak of having a player score at least 350 points for the fourth consecutive season.  

This season, Lucas has found herself as a reliable scoring option off the bench for Valley's program, leading the team in scoring in three games this season. In Hartford's 64-57 win over New Hampshire on Dec. 29, the senior scored a team-high 14 points off the bench. The senior followed with 13 points off the pine in the Hawks' 64-54 win over Binghamton on Jan. 2. Most recently, Lucas recorded a game-high 17 points against NJIT this past Monday.
