Hawks Win Second Straight, Sink Seawolves 3-1

STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The Hartford men's soccer team continued its upward trend Saturday, knocking off Stony Brook, 3-1, at LaValle Stadium. It marked the Hawk's first America East Conference win and first road victory of the season.

Hartford (3-6-2, 1-2-0 America East) got goals from freshman Olivier Sylvain, junior Demario Cameron and senior Tomer Drimmer, to power the Hawks' first three-goal effort since defeating Binghamton, 3-2, during the abbreviated spring season on March 14, 2021. Goalkeeper Rotem Fadida finished with four saves and nearly came away with his second consecutive clean sheet, before Stony Brook's Gabriel Fenandes recorded the Seawolves' lone tally in the closing minutes.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Sylvain got the Hawks on the board late in the first half, taking a pass from Dario Cavada and lacing it low to the right past diving Stony Brook goalkeeper Edmond Kaiser in the 42nd minute. Fadida preserved the Hawks' 1-0 lead with a diving save on a penalty kick by Seawolves' sophomore Aki Solvason just two seconds before halftime.

Drimmer converted a penalty kick, his second of the season, to make it 2-0 in the 52nd minute and give the Hawks their first multi-goal lead of the year. Cameron came through with his first goal for Hartford, elevating and redirecting a header off Drimmer's corner kick, to give the Hawks a 3-0 advantage in the 67th minute.

Fernandes cut the deficit to 3-1 in the 86th minute, but the Seawolves could not overcome Hartford's advantage.
