WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – UAlbany sophomore Adam Aoumaich connected in the 97th minute to lead the Great Danes to a 1-0 overtime victory against the Hartford men's soccer team on Saturday. The loss ended a three-game unbeaten for the Hawks (3-7-3, 1-3-0 America East).

It was the second goal of the season four Aoumaich, who led the Great Danes with four goals during the abbreviated 2021 spring season. With Saturday's victory UAlbany improved to 7-4-0 overall and 2-1-0 in America East play this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hawks seemed to take the early advantage in overtime, with a pair of strong scoring chances in the opening minutes of the extra period, before UAlbany broke through with the game-winner. Senior Austin DaSilva took possession near midfield a lofted a pass to Aoumaich, deep in Hartford's zone. Aoumaich collected the ball and, after a brief hesitation, sent a low shot through the box, beyond the reach of Hawks goalkeeper
Rotem Fadida.

Fadida was a force for Hartford, finishing with seven saves. The Great Danes' offense kept the pressure on throughout the contest, outshooting the Hawks 18-6. UAlbany goalkeeper Carlos Tofern was not credited with a save in the shutout victory.

After playing four of their past five games within the friendly confines of Al-Marzook Field, the Hawks hit the road to visit Vermont (6-3-1, 1-1-0 AE) on Wednesday (Oct. 13) at 7 p.m. The two sides did not meet during the abbreviated spring 2021 season but Hartford won the last meeting, 3-2, at Vermont in overtime of the 2019 America East semifinals. The Catamounts were picked to finish second in the America East Coaches' Preseason Poll, behind only New Hampshire. Vermont is 1-1 in conference play, with a 2-0 setback at Stony Brook and a 2-1 victory against UMBC in Burlington, Vt.
