An integral part of four America East Championships in her time at Hartford, one could say that Tanika Price was used to winning. However, she had to wait for her time to truly shine.

Price, a native of Brooklyn, made her way to West Hartford after being recruited by longtime former head coach Jen Rizzotti.

Like many before her, she had to cut her teeth as a freshman and sophomore before earning the trust of Rizzotti to earn major playing time as an upperclassman. Despite this, Price was part of a Hartford team that went on to win its first America East Championship before taking on national powerhouse Oklahoma in the First Round of the 2002 NCAA Championship.

Despite not playing in the game, Price took that experience and used it to fuel her in her final two seasons. She went on to make 59 of her 61 career starts in that stretch.

As a junior, Price averaged 7.2 points and 4.6 rebounds per game. She followed that by averaging 7.8 points and 4.7 rebounds per game, ranking fourth and second on the team, respectively. During her senior campaign, she started all 31 games, including in the 2005 America East Championship game where Hartford defeated Boston University, 52-50, to earn the program's second NCAA tournament bid.

Once she retired from playing, Price joined Three Ballers in Africa, an initiative through the Multicultural Scholar-Athlete Program, where she and other US Basketball players spent time in Batswana and Tanzania teaching basketball skills to African children.

After her time in Africa, Price returned to Hartford as an assistant coach on Rizzotti's staff in August of 2006. She was an integral piece of four straight postseason appearances as an assistant. In her four years on the sidelines, Price guided the teams to two America East Championships, leading to matchups with Syracuse and Texas A&M University in the 2008 NCAA Tournament, as well as a date with LSU in the 2010 NCAA Tournament.

Leaving Hartford prior to the 2010-11 season, she joined Hofstra's staff as an assistant. Following two seasons on Long island, Price realized it was time for a change and opted to become a medical professional. Today Price serves as a registered nurse in North Carolina, where she is on the front lines taking care of patients diagnosed with the coronavirus.
