WEST HARTFORD, Conn. — The Hawks outlasted Binghamton in blistering conditions at Al-Marzook Field, taking down the Bearcats, 3-2, in double overtime. Junior
Sergi Martinez and sophomore
Nadav Datner scored the Hawks goals on the afternoon, with Datner scoring the game winner in overtime. Hartford improved to 2-0 overall and 2-0 in conference play while Binghamton dropped to 0-2 overall.

The opening 25 minutes of the game were quiet as both sides battled difficult windy conditions on Al-Marzook Field. The breakthrough would come in the 26th minute when
Sergi Martinez worked his way into the penalty area and drew a foul. The junior would step up and take the spot kick, netting his first goal of the season and give the Hawks the 1-0 lead. Binghamton would respond 12 minutes later after Noah Luescher would tie the game up at 1-1, and would take four minutes later after the Bearcats took advantage of a long throw-in opportunity as Ethan Homley gave Binghamton a 2-1 lead entering half-time.
The second half would start off slow again as both sides continued to deal with blistering conditions. Hartford would find the equalizer in the 64th minute after
Sergi Martinez played a brilliant back pass to
Nadav Datner, who slotted home his first goal in a Hartford uniform. Neither side would be able to win the game in regulation as we headed for overtime. It would be another Hartford penalty that sealed the deal after Jovante Etienne's cross hit the arm of a Binghamton defender, giving the Hawks an opportunity to win the game. Datner would step up to take the penalty kick and win the game for Hartford in the 107th minute.
