LOWELL, Mass. — Megan Miller became the program's new all-time leading goal scorer as the Hartford women's lacrosse team fell to UMass Lowell on the road, 19-12, at Cushing Field on Saturday.
Kaitlyn D'Andrea scored a hat trick to pace the offense, while
Debbie Phillips,
Jessica Harrison and
Shannon Tuozzo added a pair of goals each.
With the defeat, the Hawks fall to 0-3 (0-3 AE) on the season, while UMass Lowell improves to 2-4 overall and 1-2 in the America East.
UMASS LOWELL 19, HARTFORD 12
Megan Miller opened the scoring for the Hawks, tying the game at 1-1 and becoming the new program leader in goals scored with her 29th career goal. The two sides would trade strikes back and forth, until UMass Lowell scored three unanswered to take a 5-2 Lead. The Hawks would be able to cut the lead to two on numerous occasions off the back of a pair of goals from
Jessica Harrison. The River Hawks would use a late 5-0 run to take a seven-goal lead, before the Hawks used two late goals in the final 30 seconds to enter the half-time break trailing, 12-7.
The River Hawks would open the second half with two straight goals, before both sides traded a pair of goals, giving UMass Lowell a 16-9 lead with 11 minutes left in regulation.
Debbie Phillips would then score twice, including a highlight worthy turnaround shot, to cut the River Hawk led to six with 6:09 remaining.
Kaitlyn D'Andrea would net her third goal of the game in the closing minute, but the UMass Lowell lead would be too much to overcome as the Hawks fell, 19-12.
