The Great Danes provided the only scoring in the first quarter, netting a pair of goals at the 7:15 mark and the 2:32 mark before extending their advantage on a Graydon Hogg score two minutes into the second. The Hawks rallied, though, as Sericolo and Anthony Boniface delivered scored 58 seconds apart to make it a one-goal game with 9:50 remaining until halftime.
From there, Nanticoke took over, netting a hat trick within a 75-second span to stretch the Great Danes' lead to 6-2 with 6:26 left in the half. Hartford, which managed to get one goal back before halftime to make it 6-3 at the break, struck first two minutes into the third to close the gap to 6-4 on Sericolo's second goal.
