WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – The Hartford baseball team swept its doubleheader over UMass Lowell at home, taking the opener, 9-8, before claiming an 11-4 victory in the nightcap on Sunday afternoon at Fiondella Field.

With the sweep, the Hawks moved to 14-12 on the season and in the America East, while the River Hawks fell to 12-23 on the campaign and 11-15 in the America East.

GAME ONE: HARTFORD 9, UMASS LOWELL 8
Holding a 1-0 lead entering the third inning, the River Hawks posted three runs in the inning to push ahead to an early 4-0 advantage.

Hartford struck back in the bottom of the third with a run behind Donnie Cohoon's RBI double to score Robert Carmody, cutting the Hawks' deficit to three. However, UMass Lowell responded with three runs in the fourth to take a commanding 7-1 lead.

Trailing by six runs in the bottom of the sixth, the Hawks cut the score to 7-4 behind a three-run homer from sophomore Derek Tenney. Down 7-5, senior Drew DeMartino belted an RBI double to the fence to trim the deficit to a run. Later in the inning, the Hawks tied the contest on a wild pitch, allowing Aidan Duda to score from third. With runners on second and third, sophomore Tremayne Cobb Jr. laced a single to left, scoring two to put the Hawks ahead, 9-7.

Senior Peter Myers allowed one run in the seventh inning, but held on to secure his first save of the season and the 9-8 win for the Hawks.

GAME TWO: HARTFORD 11, UMASS LOWELL 4
The Hawks maintained momentum into the second game, using solo homers from Bryce Ramsay and Thrasher to help jump out to an early 2-0 lead in the second inning.

Leading 3-0 in the fourth, Carmody lined a single to the outfield, scoring Devin Kellogg from first to push the lead to 4-0. UMass Lowell responded with a run of its own in the fifth, but Kellogg's sacrifice fly to score Cobb Jr. gave Hartford a 5-1 lead.
