Women's Hoops Reveals 2021-22 Conference Slate

BOSTON — The Hartford women's basketball team's America East slate has been announced. The Hawks will play an 18-game conference slate in 2021-22, with nine of those contests scheduled to be played inside Reich Family Pavilion at Chase Arena.

Hartford begins the quest for an America East Championship, when it opens the league slate against UAlbany on Thursday, Dec. 30. Three days later, the Hawks travel across Long Island Sound to face conference powerhouse Stony Brook on Sunday, Jan. 2. 

The busy opening week — which features four games over a 10-day stretch — continues with a home date against reigning conference champion Maine on Wednesday, Jan. 5, before it concludes the stretch with a road trip north to take on Vermont on Saturday, Jan. 8.
 
Hartford returns to action on Wednesday, Jan. 12, when it welcomes Binghamton to West Hartford for the first time since the 2019-20 season. Last season the Hawks split their two-game set with Binghamton on the road, taking a 64-54 victory, before suffering an eight-point loss in the finale. The Hawks close their two-game homestand with a date against neighboring UMass Lowell on Saturday, Jan. 15.
 
The opening month of conference play closes with Hartford playing three of its remaining four games on the road. The Hawks kick off that stretch with a trip to New Hampshire on Wednesday, Jan. 19, before they return to Reich Family Pavilion on Saturday, Jan. 22, to face the Catamounts to close their season series.

Hartford hits the road for two straight contests to conclude January, beginning with a trip to Binghamton on Wednesday, Jan. 26, followed by date in Lowell, Mass. to take on the River Hawks on Saturday, Jan. 29 to wrap up the regular-season series and the first month of conference play. 
  
The second month of league competition begins with Hartford hosting three of the first four games in the month of February. Included in that span are dates against New Hampshire (Wednesday, Feb. 2), UMBC (Wednesday, Feb. 9) and NJIT (Saturday, Feb. 12).
 
Three of the next four contests lands Hartford back on the road, beginning with a trip against Maine on Wednesday, Feb. 16. The Hawks return to Reich Family Pavilion for its regular-season home finale against Stony Brook on Saturday, Feb. 19.

Following the home finale against the Seawolves, the Hawks wrap up the regular season on the road at UMBC on Wednesday, Feb. 23 and NJIT on Saturday, Feb. 26
 
The America East Playoffs will get underway with the quarterfinals on Thursday, March 3. The semifinal round will follow on Sunday, March 6, with the Championship Game set to be played on Friday, March 11.

In a 2020-21 campaign that was abbreviated due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Hartford went 3-9 overall. The Hawks canceled the final three games of the season due to complications with COVID-19.
