Maddie Lindsay and freshman
Camryn Luginbuhl combined for 27 kills to lead the Hartford volleyball team, but it wasn't enough as the Hawks fell to NEC league foe Bryant in straight sets inside of the Hartford Volleyball Gym on Tuesday evening.
The Hawks fell to 2-11 on the season with the loss, while the Bulldogs improved to 7-8 on the 2021 campaign.
BRYANT 3, HARTFORD 1 (25-20, 20-25, 25-23, 25-14)
SET ONE: The two sides played to a 3-3 tie before Bryant earned back-to-back service aces to take a 5-3 lead. After Hartford tied the set at 8-8, the Bulldogs tallied three straight points to take an 11-8 lead, forcing a timeout from the Hawks. Out of the timeout, the Bulldogs worked the lead to 15-9 to force a Hartford timeout. After falling behind 19-11 in the set, the Hawks worked back to cut the Bulldogs' lead to 19-16, forcing a Bryant timeout. However, the deficit proved to be too much, as the Hawks fell 25-20.
SET TWO: The two sides traded points to a 7-7 tie in the set before Hartford went on a 5-1 run to take a 12-8 lead, forcing a Bryant timeout. The Bulldogs responded with four straight points out of the timeout to cut the Hawks' lead to one, forcing a Hartford timeout. Out of the timeout, the Hawks built the lead to 19-16, holding on for the 25-20 set victory.
SET THREE: Bryant jumped out to an early 8-4 lead in the set, forcing a Hartford timeout. The Bulldogs' stretched their lead to 15-10 out of the timeout before the Hawks fought back to cut the deficit to one, forcing a Bryant timeout. Out of the timeout, Hartford rallied to take an 18-16 lead, capped by a block at the net from
Valerie Diede to force Bryant to use its final timeout of the set. The Hawks scored back-to-back points out of the timeout to push its lead to four, its largest of the set, before Bryant battled back to cut the Hawks' lead 22-21, forcing Hartford to use its final timeout in the set. Out of the timeout, the Bulldogs closed the set with a 4-1 run to take the set.
SET FOUR: The two sides exchanged points to a 5-5 tie before Bryant took a 10-7 lead to force a Hartford timeout. Out of the timeout, the Bulldogs pushed the lead to 17-12 to force Hartford to use its final timeout of the set. The deficit proved to be too much, as the Hawks eventually fell, 25-14 in the set.

The Hawks will be back in action on Sunday, Sept. 26, when they open America East play on the road at New Hampshire. First serve from Lundholm Gymnasium is set for 1 p.m.
