Men's Soccer Falls Short at Home Against No. 9 New Hampshire

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – The Hartford men's soccer team surrendered four unanswered goals in the second half as the Hawks fell against No. 9 New Hampshire, 4-1, at Al-Marzook Field on Saturday evening. Senior Tomer Drimmer scored Hartford's lone goal in the contest on a penalty kick score in the first half.

Hartford fell to 1-6-2 (0-2-0 America East) on the season, while the Wildcats improved to 9-0-0 (2-0-0 America East) on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The two sides remained scoreless for the first 31 minutes of play before Hartford struck first. Drimmer dribbled the ball into Hartford's offensive zone before attempting a cross that got batted down by a New Hampshire defender for a handball penalty. Drimmer immediately stepped into the box for the opportunity and put the ball in the back of the net off his right foot to give the Hawks a 1-0 lead in the 31st minute and into the half.

The Wildcats struck early in the second half off the foot of Jacob Gould to score the equalizer. Gould corralled the ball in the box after a scrum and put it home to knot the score at 1-1 in the 52nd minute. The Wildcats took the lead nearly two minutes later after Bridger Hansen scored on a header in the box off the foot of Linus Fallberg for the 2-1 lead.

The Wildcats struck again in the 56th minute to extend their lead to two goals. After a deflected throw-in, Fallberg lobbed the ball into the box for Tola Showunmi who lifted the ball into the back of the net off his right foot to give New Hampshire a comfortable 3-1 lead.

New Hampshire iced the game in the 64th minute behind Bilal Kamal's unassisted goal.
