Hawks Head to Vestal for First of Two Straight Against Binghamton

VESTAL, N.Y. — The Hartford men's basketball team continues a busy stretch featuring three games over a five-day span on Monday, when it takes on Binghamton inside the Events Center. The two teams will turn around and play again in West Hartford two days later, with tipoff slated for 7 p.m. inside Chase Arena at Reich Family Pavilion.

  • Binghamton is off to its best start in conference play since 2008-09, going 4-2
  • The Bearcats recently defeated NJIT, 68-57, on Saturday for their third straight road win
  • Jacob Falko scored 20 points, including 14 in the second half, to help Binghamton erase a halftime deficit against the Highlanders
  • He is one of three Bearcats to average double figures on the season (12.2 ppg), joining Tyler Bertram (10.5 ppg) and John McGriff (10.5 ppg)

  • Flowers, who netted his 500th career point at App State (Nov. 29) on a jump shot with 12:19 left in the second half, scored his 600th career point at Sacred Heart last month (Dec. 22)
  • He needed 54 games to reach the 600-point mark and became the fastest player to reach the milestone since Zeglinski
  • Zeglinski netted 600 points in 46 games after hitting the mark in his 15th game as a sophomore, on Nov. 28, 2007 
  • Flowers is the second player to score 600 points in a Hartford uniform, joining Marks
  • He enters Monday's game with 629 career points
 
 
SHARP-SHOOTING SHRIVER
  • Senior David Shriver, who left Alderson Broaddus ranked second all-time in three-point field goals (216), has been a threat from distance in 2021-22 for the Hawks
  • He leads the conference in three-pointers per game (2.5) and is third in three-point field goal percentage (.398)
  • Shriver enjoyed an impressive outing against New Hampshire (Jan. 18) that saw him go a perfect 4-for-4 from long range
  • He knocked down six three-pointers at Winthrop on Dec. 1 — the most for a Hawk since classmate D.J. Mitchell had six against Maine on Dec. 20, 2020 — to finish with a career-high 20 points
  • All but seven of his 42 field goals — and 97 of his 111 points — have come from behind the arc
  • Shriver, who netted his 1,000th career point at UNLV, has knocked down 246 career three-pointers
 
GUESS WHO'S BACK, BACK AGAIN
  • Hartford received a boost when Carter rejoined roster last month
  • With one season of eligibility remaining, he was officially cleared to play just hours before the Hawks' game at CCSU (Dec. 18)
  • A 1,000-point scorer who reached the milestone in the NCAA Tournament game against Baylor, he is amidst is third season at Hartford — and his seventh season as a collegian — after spending two years at Marquette (2015-17) and two seasons at La Salle (2017-19)
  • Carter is a two-time America East All-Conference performer and a two-time All-Defensive Team member
  • He is currently one of four seven-year seniors in NCAA Division I 
 
 
KILLA' KIMBROUGH
  • Senior Jared Kimbrough, who missed five games with an injury, has been a key contributor off the bench in his nine appearances this season
  • With high-percentage shots being the bread and butter of his game, Kimbrough is an efficient shooter at 57.1 percent 
  • Standing at 6-8, his versatility has been evident in the early part of the season with a 4-of-7 clip from long range
  • Kimbrough came just shy of his first double-double against Boston University with 13 points and nine rebounds (Nov. 18)
  • He recently had four points and three rebounds at Vermont on Saturday (Jan. 22)
