The Hawks defense and sophomore goalkeeper Abigail McCarthy were put to work early, facing three shots attempts in the first three minutes of the game. Throughout the remainder of the first half, play went back-and-forth in the middle third of the field. Until the 33rd minute where senior forward Makaela Montgomery-Williams nearly gave the Hawks the first lead of the game. McCarthy and the Hawks defense were able to keep the game scoreless heading into the halftime break.

Less than five minutes into the second half, Montgomery-Williams capitalized off of an incredible cross-field pass from sophomore forward Juliana Chiarella, giving the Hawks a 1-0 advantage. Just under 90 seconds later, senior midfielder Victoria Jedrychowski lifted a corner kick into the box where senior defender Doireann Fahey headed the ball into the left corner of the net, doubling Hartford's lead to 2-0. Despite a late push from the Bryant offense putting two shots on net in the final minutes of the game, Hartford would walk away victorious by a score of 2-0.
