Kurtis Henderson dropped a team-high 13 points as the Hartford men's basketball team fell 78-50 to Delaware Saturday. The Hawks dip to 3-5 on the season, while Delaware improves to 3-2 on the year.
DELAWARE 78, HARTFORD 50
The two teams opened the game trading baskets back-and-forth as McClain kept the Hawks within striking distance early on. Opening the game on a 4-0 run, the Blue Hens advantage was cut in half by McClain who scored six of Hartford's first eight points. After three-pointers from Henderson and
Michael Dunne, the Hawk's cut the Delaware advantage to as close as 17-14. The Blue Hens regained their momentum in the latter portion of the first half, going on a 13-2 run capped off by a three-point field goal from Gianmarco Arletti. Hartford would use a 5-0 run of its own fueled by Henderson's scoring to close the gap to 10 points. Delaware regained its advantage going into the halftime break leading, 37-24.
Both teams would trade buckets through the opening minutes of the second half, playing to a 39-29 mark with 17:14 to go. The Blue Hens would double their advantage over the Hawks, using a 15-2 run to take a 57-33 lead. Delaware continued to extend its lead before five points from McClain ended the Blue Hens 10-2 run. The deficit would prove to be too much for Hartford, as Delaware took home a 78-50 victory.
