Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Late run enabled Terriers to pull away

Playing without leading scorer Briggs McClain, the University of Hartford men's basketball team fell to St. Francis Brooklyn Saturday, 67-51, inside Chase Arena at Reich Family Pavilion.

The Hawks stayed in striking distance, and with 11:10 remaining, the game was tied at 43. However, St. Francis came out of the media timeout by scoring 12 of the next 16 points to build its biggest lead of the game. The run would eventually grow to 24-8 to end the game.

Just ahead of the game-deciding spurt, the two teams were trading baskets and the lead.

The first half was seemingly a 20-minute session of runs as the Terriers scored the first six points of the game, and maintained that six-point advantage until the Hawks were able to cut the deficit to one on three different occasions. After St. Francis Brooklyn reestablished a seven-point lead, UH once again had an answer to pull to within one at the half.

Jared Kimbrough led the team with 14 points and seven rebounds, while Kurtis Henderson added 12 points. Matt Hobbs added seven rebounds to go along with seven points.
