HARTFORD 7, NJIT 5
Hartford wasted little time getting on the board, as Donnie Cohoon launched a solo shot to right field, giving the Hawks a 1-0 lead. The offense continued to roll as Derek Tenney singled to left in the next-at bat. Kevin Koziol ripped a double to left center, advancing Tenney to third, before Ben Maycock gave the Hawks a 2-0 advantage after a sacrifice fly to left field. However, the Highlanders would immediately respond, tying the score at 2-2 after the first inning. NJIT would take a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the second, but a Derek Tenney solo home run in the third inning levelled the score at 3-3. However, the Highlanders would reestablish its advantage, taking a 5-3 lead into the seventh.

Tenney would come up clutch for the Hawks in the top of the seventh frame. With two outs, Cohoon got on base with a single, setting up Tenney to tie the game at 5-5 with a two-run home run over the left field fence. The Hawks continued its offensive onslaught, regaining the lead in the eighth. Ben Maycock lead off the inning with a single down the right field line. In the next at-bat, Brett Anderson was hit by the pitch putting two runners on base. Joseph Woronick came in to pinch run for Anderson as the Hawks put runners on second and third after a sacrifice bunt by Daniel Burnett. Martin Chavarria gave the Hawks the lead, ripping a single back up the middle, plating Maycock. A NJIT throwing error allowed Woronick to score, increasing the Hawks lead to 7-5. The Highlanders would try and tie the game late, but Alec Couture shut down NJIT, preserving the 7-5 victory for Hartford.
