WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Donnie Cohoon launched his third home run of the season as the Hartford baseball team fell to Marist, 8-2, this afternoon. The Hawks drop to 1-12 overall while the Red Foxes move to 10-6 with the win.
MARIST 8, HARTFORD 2
Marist started the game strong, taking an early 2-0 lead after the opening inning. The Red Foxes extended the gap to 8-0 after the top half of the fourth. The Hawks would pull one run back within the bottom half of the inning.
Derek Tenney singled to left field followed by a single from catcher
Tyler Holmes.
Ben Maycock drew a walk in the next at-bat, loading the bases for
Brett Anderson. Anderson would draw a walk himself, plating Tenney. However, the Hawks could not tack on any more runs in the bottom of the fourth. The Hawks pitching staff would keep the Red Foxes off the board for the remainder of the game. In the bottom of the sixth inning, Cohoon launched a solo shot over the right field fence, cutting Marist's lead to six, 8-2. However, the deficit proved too much for the Hawks as the Red Foxes went home with an 8-2 victory.
