HARTFORD 10, STONY BROOK 3
After rain delayed first pitch by 45 minutes, starting pitcher
James Judenis got hot early, tallying two strikeouts in the opening inning. The Hawks rewarded Judenis's efforts on the mound, exploding for three runs in the bottom of the second. With one out,
Brett Anderson singled to right field before stealing second base. In the next at-bat,
Kevin Koziol doubled into left, plating Anderson and giving the Hawks a 1-0 lead. Knight kept the hit parade going, launching a homerun over the right field fence, extending the gap to 3-0.
Hartford did not let up, adding onto its lead in the next inning. After
Derek Tenney doubled to right center,
Ben Maycock destroyed the ball over the right field fence, increasing Hartford's lead to 5-0. Stony Brook would respond with three runs in the top half of the fourth, cutting the gap to 5-3. However, Hartford responded with five runs of their own in the fifth.
Donnie Cohoon started the inning with a lead off walk, before advancing to third base.
Tremayne Cobb Jr. hit a sacrifice fly out to right, plating Cohoon and reestablishing a 6-3 lead. After a Maycock walk, Anderson launched a two-run shot of his own, increasing the lead to 8-3. Knight kept the homerun parade going, hitting his second two-run shot of the game, increasing the lead to 10-3.
