LOWELL, Mass. – The Hartford baseball team fell in heartbreaking fashion, 7-5, in extra innings this afternoon. The Hawks would storm back in the top of the eight, using a four run rally to take a 6-5 lead, but ultimately fell after 10 innings. With the result, the Hawks drop to 4-24 overall and 3-11 in the America East, while the River Hawks move to 14-18 overall and 7-7 in conference play.
UMASS LOWELL 7, HARTFORD 6 (10 INN.)
Hartford got off to another strong start in game two, taking a 2-0 lead after the opening inning.
Logan Cole lead off the game with a double, before advancing to third in the next at-bat.
Brett Anderson would hit a deep fly ball to right, allowing Cole to score on the sacrifice fly and giving the Hawks a 1-0 lead.
Tremayne Cobb Jr. then followed it up with a solo homerun over the left center fence, extending the lead to 2-0. Starting pitcher.
Tim Blaisdell had an excellent start, setting down the River Hawks in order in the opening frame, keeping the home team off the board in the first two innings. However, it would be the hosts who struck next, taking a 5-2 lead into the eight after shutting down the Hawks at the plate.
Hartford would start to mount a comeback in the top half of the eighth. The Hawks would load the bases after Cole reached on an error, Anderson doubled to center field and Cobb Jr. drew a walk.
Devin Kellogg would take advantage of the situation, hitting an infield single and cutting the gap to 5-3. A wild pitch in the next at-bat allowed Anderson to cross the plate, before a
Daniel Burnett sac fly tied the game at 5-5.
Noah Rivera kept the run parade going, singling to left field, scoring Kellogg and giving Hartford a 6-5 lead. The River Hawks would tie the game in the bottom of the inning, and the score held as we entered extra innings.
UMass Lowell would keep the Hawks off the board in the top of the 10th, before winning the game in the bottom half of the inning, 6-5, after a hit batter allowed a run to score.

- Kellogg paced the Hawks at the plate, going 2-of-3
- Kellogg, Burnett, Rivera, Cobb Jr. and Anderson all recorded a RBI on the day
- Cole and Cobb Jr. led the team with two runs scored each
- Tim Blaisdell (got the start on the mound, picking up a no decision after striking out five batters and allowing three runs, one earned, on six hits in 6.0 innings
- Ryan Dee (0-3), who entered the game in the eighth inning, earned the loss after allowing one run on two this in 2.0 innings of relief
- Alec Couture also appeared out of the bullpen
