Baseball Drops Midweek Contest at Marist

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Hartford baseball team fell, 13-4, in midweek action at Marist this afternoon. The Hawks fall to 5-25 overall while the Red Foxes move to 18-13 on the season.

MARIST 13, HARTFORD 4
After Marist jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead, the Hawks would respond with a big third frame. Jake Santiago led off with a walk before Tyler Holmes hit an infield single to put runners on first and second. An error by the Red Foxes second basemen in the next at-bat allowed Santiago to score and knot the game up at 1-1. Derek Tenney continued his hot streak at the plate, slashing a single down the right field line, plating Holmes and Devin Kellogg, giving Hartford a 3-1 advantage. After Tremayne Cobb Jr. drew a walk and a double steal put two runners in scoring position, Daniel Burnett kept the run parade alive, singling down the left field line, scoring Tenney and increasing the lead to 4-1.

Marist however would retake the lead in the next few innings and shut down the Hawks offense, going home with a 13-4 victory.
