Cobb Jr. Records Two RBI as Baseball Falls at Maine

ORONO, Maine – Tremayne Cobb Jr. paced the offense, going 3-of-4 at the plate with a solo home run and two RBI as the Hartford baseball team fell, 15-2, to Maine this afternoon. The Hawks fall to 6-30 overall and 5-15 in America East play while the Black Bears improve to 22-14 on the year and 17-3 in conference play.

MAINE 15, HARTFORD 2
Maine jumped out to an early 7-0 lead after the first inning. The Hawks would fire back in the top of the third as the Hawks loaded the bases to start the inning. Martin Chavarria singled before Kevin Koziol drew a walk and Derek Tenney singled to left to put three runners on base. Cobb Jr. would take full advantage of the situation, ripping a single to right field, plating Chavarria and cutting the deficit to 7-1. However, the Hawks were unable to take further advantage in the rest of the inning.

After the Black Bears took a 12-1 advantage into the eighth, the Hawks looked to strike back, loading the bases onced again. Daniel Burnett would be hit by a pitch, followed by a Ben Maycock single. With two outs, Koziol also got hit by a pitch to load the bases. Unfortunately, Hartford would not cut into the Black Bears lead, but answered back in the top of the ninth. Cobb Jr. would launch a solo home run to lead off the ninth inning, but the deficit proved too much as Maine took game two, 15-2.
