VESTAL, N.Y. – The Hartford baseball team fell, 9-2, to Binghamton in game two of a three-game set this afternoon. With the result, the Hawks drop to 3-20 overall and 2-9 in the America East while the Bearcats move to 7-18 overall and 4-7 in the conference.
BINGHAMTON 9, HARTFORD 2
Hartford wasted little time to get on the board yet again, taking a 1-0 lead in the opening inning.
Donnie Cohoon singled through the right side before stealing second base to get a runner in scoring position. With two outs,
Tremayne Cobb Jr. stepped up, ripping a single to center field, plating Cohoon and giving the Hawks the lead. However, Binghamton responded with four runs in the bottom of the second, taking a 4-1 advantage. Down 6-1 in the top of the fourth, the Hawks were able to pull one back. With
Derek Tenney on third and
Devin Kellogg on first, Hartford perfectly executed a double steal, plating Tenney and cutting the gap to 6-2. The deficit would prove to much however, as Binghamton took game two, 9-2.
