HARTFORD 9, UMASS LOWELL 6
The River Hawks got off to a quick start by blasting a solo shot out to left and taking an early 1-0 lead in the first. Hartford was able to respond immediately after in the bottom half when Cohoon led-off the inning for the Hawks with a double into the left center field gap. Cobb Jr. followed by lacing a two-run line drive homerun right inside the left field foul pole to give Hartford a 2-1 lead. UMass Lowell battled back and regained the lead after crossing the plate once in both the second and fifth innings. In the bottom of the fifth, Cobb Jr. went deep again, this time lifting a three-run shot out to left center to give the Hawks a 5-3 lead. The River Hawks found a way to answer once again in the eighth with three more runs tacked onto the board to take back the lead 6-5. After a lead-off single from Ben Maycock and drawn walk from Tyler Holmes in the home half of the inning, Devin Kellogg capitalized on the excellent scoring opportunity by driving an RBI single up the middle, tying the game up at six a piece. With two runners aboard and two outs in the inning, Cohoon continued his torrent day, launching a three-run opposite field homerun giving the Hawks a comfortable 9-6 lead heading into the final frame. Hartford closer, Will Nowak jogged in from the bullpen and shut down any hopes of a comeback from the UMass Lowell offense as the Hawks took home the win, 9-6.
