Baseball Falls in Series Opener at UAlbany

ALBANY, N.Y. – The Hartford baseball team fell, 15-1, in their series opener against UAlbany this afternoon. The Hawks fall to 6-33 overall and 5-17 in America East play, while the Great Danes move to 20-19 overall and 9-13 in the conference.

UALBANY 15, HARTFORD 1
Hartford looked to get an early lead as Kevin Koziol lead off the game with a single before advancing to third, but it would be the Great Danes that jumped out to an early 6-0 lead after the opening three innings. The Hawks would try and cut the gap, putting runners on the corners in the fifth after singles from Ben Maycock and Logan Cole. However, UAlbany would prevent the Hawks from decreasing the deficit, taking a 12-0 edge into the eighth inning.

The Hawks would put up a run in the top of the ninth though, as Noah Rivera lead off with a single, followed by a walk from Daniel Burnett. Kyle Hawes would single to left field, loading the bases, allowing Cole to hit a sacrifice fly to right, plating Rivera and getting the Hawks on the board. The deficit ultimately proved too much to overcome, as UAlbany took the series opener, 15-1.
