NORMAN, Okla. — The Hartford men's golf team has received Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) Outstanding Team Academic honors, the organization recently announced.
This year marks the 10th time that the Hawks earn the Outstanding Team Academic Award from the GCAA under head coach
Pete Stankevich, who enters his 15th season at the helm in 2022-23.
Several student-athletes stood out in helping lead the Hawks to All-Academic Team recognition. Combining for a 3.47 GPA in 2021-22, Hartford men's golf had nine of its 10 members register a 3.0 GPA last school year, with four members posting at least 3.5 GPA. To be eligible for GCAA Outstanding Team Academic honors, a college or university must submit GPAs for each player on their official squad list for the academic year, while accumulating at least a 3.0 team GPA.
In addition, four members of this past year's squad were recently named to the Big Sky All-Academic Team for holding a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2 earlier this month, while
Ryan Tomaso,
Conor Byrne and
Jared Winiarz received Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-American Scholar recognition.
