Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Briggs drop 22 in loss to SFC-Brooklyn

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – A late first-half Saint Francis-Brooklyn run swung the momentum, and the University of Hartford men's basketball team fell to the Terriers 78-73 Tuesday at the ARC on the campus of Pratt Institute.

Leading by nine points with six minutes remaining in the first half, the Hawks scored just six of the final 19 points to trail by two going into the half. Hartford stayed within striking distance in the second half, but ultimately, couldn't get any closer than three points.

Freshman Lorenzo Washington got the Hawks off to a hot start as his three-pointer, which was his seventh point of the game, ignited a 20-7 spurt that gave Hartford its aforementioned nine-point advantage.

Coming out of the locker room, Hartford used its defense to stay in the game as it missed its first seven shots before a three-pointer by Michael Dunne lifted the proverbial lid off the basket. The deficit, unfortunately, would grow to as much as 11 before a last gasp was quelched from the free throw line.

Briggs McClain led the way with 22 points, marking the fourth time he scored at least 20 points this season, while Dunne added 15 points.
