Webley notches career-high 16 points

Junior center Thomas Webley scored a career-high 16 points in the University of Hartford's 76-52 loss to the University of Pennsylvania Monday inside Chase Arena at Reich Family Pavilion.

The 6-10 New Zealander finished the day 8-of-10 from the floor with four rebounds. Additionally, he was responsible for drawing half of the Quakers' eight fouls in the game.

Four different Hawks scored during the early 12-4 run, which was capped by a corner three-pointer from Matt Hobbs, as Hartford raced out to an early 19-11 lead. Penn quickly answered with eight straight points. The Quakers then seized momentum a little later with another 8-0 spurt to take a six-point lead, and the advantage stretched to nine at the break.

Hartford's deficit grew to 16 midway through the second half and was as much as 24 points.

Pano Pavlidis added 10 points, five rebounds, and a team-high three steals, while Kurtis Henderson tied a career-high with seven rebounds to go along with eight points.

  • Penn shot 14-of-33 from beyond the arc, both opponent-highs this season. It was the difference in the game as both teams scored 30 points in the paint.
  • Hartford shot just 3-of-10 from the free-throw line.
  • Leading scorer Briggs McClain was held to a season-low four points. He did have a season-high five assists.
  • Every Hartford player that played at least one minute grabbed a rebound for the Hawks.
