Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Briggs, Dunne combine for 30 in home finale

Michael Dunne and Briggs McClain combined for 30 points as the Hartford men's basketball team fell to Merrimack Thursday, 67-59, in the regular season home finale inside the Chase Arena at the Reich Family Arena.

After the Hawks scored the first basket of the game, Merrimack tallied the next nine points – leading to a Hartford timeout. It was an uphill battle for the rest of the night.

Hartford had some moments as a Kurtis Henderson three-pointer pulled the home team to within three with 7:12 remaining in the first half. However, the Warriors closed the half on a 16-4 run and took a 15-point lead at the break.

The deficit remained double digits for most of the second half, but the Hawks had one last gasp in them as a Briggs McClain jumper with 40 seconds remaining cut the deficit to six points. Merrimack halted any momentum by closing out the game with four consecutive free throws.

Jared Kimbrough pulled down a team-high nine boards, while Pano Pavlidis added seven rebounds.
