Women's Lacrosse Seals Program Record 21-6 Victory Over Clark

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Hartford women's lacrosse saw eight goal-scorers combine for a program-record 21 goals to claim a 21-6 victory over Clark on Wednesday. The Hawks improve to 1-0 on the young season, while the Cougars fall to 0-2.

Clark opened the game by scoring three of the first four goals of the contest before Hartford would find the back of the net for eight straight to take a 9-3 lead with 10:04 remaining in the first half. Finding the back of the net during the 8-0 spurt were four different Hawks including graduate student Emily Steele, junior Lenaijah Ferguson, sophomore Meghan Smith, and freshman Courtney Ingham. The Cougars ended the second quarter netting two goals to close Hartford's lead to 10-5 heading into the halftime break. In the second half, Hartford would outscore Clark 11-1, putting the contest out of reach for the Cougars. Graduate student Lily Belle Baker as well as freshmen Shelby Frashure, Kelly Hoxie and Sara Costa added goals in the second half of action to help the Hawks seal a 21-6 victory.

  • Hartford's 21 goals mark the most scored in a single-game in program history.
  • Baker and Ferguson each posted perfect 1.000 shooting percentages on 4-of-4 and 3-of-3 shooting.
  • The Hawks saw six of their players record first-career goals including freshman quartet Hoxie, Costa, Frashure, and Ingham as well as Ferguson.
  • A program-best five players scored hat tricks including, Ingham, Steele, Baker, Ferguson, and Smith.
  • The Hawks came out on top in nearly every category including shots (38-14), shots on goal (32-10), clears (12-23 vs. 10-16), and ground balls (22-17).
  • Senior Hanna Ramsey earned her first win in net this season, tallying four saves throughout the contest.
  • Elizabeth Liakos and Kiley Simmons each tallied three points for the Cougars.
