WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – The Hartford women's lacrosse team dropped its first game of the season Thursday afternoon to Saint Michael's College, 15-7. The Hawks dip to 6-1 on the season while the Purple Knights improve to 2-4 on the year.
SAINT MICHAEL'S 15, HARTFORD 7
FIRST HALF
Hartford opened up the scoring at the 10:52 mark of the opening frame when
Meghan Smith found the back of net for her program-record 23rd goal of the season. The Purple Knights would respond just 14 second later with a goal of their own before extending their lead to 6-1 heading into the second quarter. The Hawks would get the scoring started once again in second with back-to-back goals from
Sara Costa and
Lenaijah Ferguson to cut the gap to 6-3 with 8:07 remaining in the first half. However, St. Michael's would close out the opening half on a 3-0 run to take a 9-3 lead into the locker room
SECOND HALF
After a slow start to the second half on either side, the Hawks got the scoring started with 6:28 remaining in the third quarter after
Lily Belle Baker scored on a free position attempt. However, the Purple Knights would respond with three goals to extend their lead to 12-3 before Baker capitalized on her second free position shot to close the deficit to 12-4. Both sides would trade goals back-and-forth throughout the fourth and final quarter as the Hawks would eventually fall, 15-7.

- Shelby Frashure, Costa, and Smith found the back of the net on the afternoon.
- Erin Johns dished out her first career assist.
- Hanna Ramsey got the start in net and took the loss after making 11 saves.
