BERLIN, Md. – Junior
Michael Amari finished third overall, three strokes off the lead, as the Hartford men's golf team placed 11th in the 17-team Battle of Rum Pointe.
Amari was tied for the lead after posting a 5-under 72. He tallied an eagle, five birdies, and two bogeys in the first round, and then completed the second round with three birdies and two bogeys for a 1-under 71 in the second round.
Amari was the lone Hartford golfer under par for the tournament.
Conor Byrne was the second Hartford golfer, placing tied for 58th with a nine-over 81. In the opening round, Byrne had four birdies, two bogeys, and two double bogeys for a 2-over 74. He carded a 7-over 79 with a pair of birdies, four bogeys, and two double bogeys in the second round.
The next three golfers,
Bryce Zimmerman,
Manuel Romero, and
Kyle St. Pierre, all finished tied for 66th with an 11-over 83. Romero and St. Pierre each carded a 5-over 77 in the first round and a 6-over 78 in the second round.
Zimmerman carded a 6-over 78 in the first round and then carded a 5-over 77 in the second round.
The Hawks return to the links April 3rd and 4th by traveling to Lake Worth, Fla. for the Southern Invitational.
