Ciccone Records Two RBI as Baseball Falls at Maine

ORONO, Maine – Jackson Ciccone paced the offense with a double and two RBI as the Hartford baseball team, fell 5-4, to Maine on Sunday afternoon. The Hawks fall to 2-28 overall, while the Black Bears improve to 21-12 on the season.

MAINE 5, HARTFORD 4
After a scoreless opening frame, Hartford would kick off the scoring with a run in the top of the second inning off an RBI double into the left-center field gap off the bat of Jackson Ciccone. Ciccone's double drove home Jake Santiago who led off the inning with a single up the middle.

Maine led off the bottom half of the inning with a triple to put a runner in scoring position. However, Hawk's starter Edwin Almanzar Jr., would strike out a pair and strand the lead-off runner at third to keep the Black Bears off the board. Hartford rewarded its pitcher's effort in the top of the third, extending its lead to 2-0 after Martin Chavarria launched his first home run over the left field fence.

However, the Black Bears would find the scoresheet plating two runs in the third and two more in the fourth to take a 4-2 lead. After Maine tacked one more run onto their lead in the seventh, the Hawks would immediately respond with a pair of runs in the top of the eighth to cut the deficit to just one run. However, despite the late effort to mount a comeback, the Black Bears' lead proved too much for the Hawks to overcome, eventually falling 5-4.
