PRESCOTT, Ariz. – The University of Hartford men's golf team improved by 14 strokes, carding a 12-over 292, on the second day of the 2023 Big Sky Men's Golf Championship Tuesday at the Talking Sticks Golf Club.

The biggest improvement came from junior John Guerrera, who shot a five-under 65 in the second round. It was an improvement of 19 strokes from day one. In his nearly bogey-free round, Guerrera finished with a team-best six birdies and 11 holes with a par. His 65 was the best round of any golfer on the day and the second-best round of the championships.

Sophomore Kyle St. Pierre carded an eight-stroke improvement with a two-over 72. After shooting a three-over 38 with three bogeys on the front nine, he cleaned it up on the back. He kicked it off with back-to-back birdies, stayed even over the next three holes, and then carded one more birdie over the final four holes to finish with a one-under 34.

Senior Manuel Romero was even through the first eight holes and birdied the ninth to finish the front nine at one under. He managed just three holes at par with three bogeys for a seven-over 42 on the back nine for a six-over 76 on the day.

Junior Conor Byrne recorded two birdies and two bogeys on the front nine to be even at the turn, but shot nine-over 44 on the back nine, while junior Michael Amari shot three-over on the front and 10-over on the back for a 13-over 83.

Hartford concludes the 2023 Big Sky Men's Golf Championships with 18 holes on Wednesday.
