Colella Closes Out the Win for the Hawks at URI

KINGSTON, R.I. – Joe Dooley earned his first career quality start after allowing two earned runs over 6.0 innings of work with seven punch outs to propel the Hartford baseball team towards a 5-4 victory over the University of Rhode Island on Wednesday.

HARTFORD 5, RHODE ISLAND 4
Hartford started the scoring early, as Devin Kellogg launched a two-run shot over the left field fence. After Kellogg's bat gave the Hawks an early lead, Joe Dooley took the mound and set down nine of his first ten batters through the opening three innings, allowing Hartford to take a 2-0 lead into the middle third of the contest.

After URI tied the game up at two apiece in the bottom of the sixth, Hartford would immediately respond in the seventh with a run to regain its lead at 3-2. Jackson Ciccone drove an RBI single into the left-center field gap, plating Joseph Woronick, who reached base earlier after drawing a walk.

The Rams would find a way to respond, scoring a run in both the seventh and eighth innings to take a 4-3 advantage into the final frame. However, despite falling behind late, the Hawks would mount a comeback in the top of the ninth, plating a pair of runs to take home the 5-4 victory over URI.
