VESTAL, N.Y. – The Hartford baseball team wrapped up its three-game series with Binghamton, dropping a doubleheader against the Bearcats on Saturday. The Hawks came up short in game one, 2-1, before falling in the series finale, 11-0.
With the sweep, the Hawks fell to 2-20 on the season, while the Bearcats improved to 17-10 on the campaign.
GAME ONE: BINGHAMTON 2, HARTFORD 1 (7 Inn.)
After a scoreless first inning on either side, Binghamton would get the scoring started in the bottom of the second, plating the contest's first run. Hartford would respond in the top of the fourth with a run of its own off an RBI double down the left field line from
Noah Rivera, tying the game up at one apiece. Rivera's double drove home
Devin Kellogg who reached base with a leadoff single earlier in the inning. However, the Bearcats would regain their slight edge on the scoreboard, plating one run in the bottom of the fifth to take a 2-1 lead into the sixth. Despite the late effort to mount a comeback, the Hawks would come up just short and fall in game one, 2-1.
GAME TWO: BINGHAMTON 11, HARTFORD 0 (7 Inn.)
Binghamton wasted little time getting the offense rolling in game two, posting seven runs in the bottom of the first inning, before tacking on four more in the fourth to take an 11-0 lead.
Jeremy Mangiameli would give the Hawks a runner in scoring position in the top of the fifth after moving
Antonio DiGrigoli over to second base with a single into right center field. However, the Bearcats would keep Hartford off the board and hold on for the 11-0 victory.
